Habitat: Underside of rocks in about 9 m. Depth: 0 - 63 m Characteristics: Maximum reported size: 48 mm. The shell appears glossy with a dark purple-brown background. The columella and outer lip are often stained with purple-brown. The protoconch has 1.5 whorls. They are smooth and translucent and whitish to light brown with a darker orange-brown band at the suture and at the periphery of the complete whorl. Spiral cords on the first two or three aduly whorls bear orange-brown or whitish beads, but the cords are subsequently reduced to threads that are mostly absent from the body whorl, reappearing at the base.
