Habitat: In algae, seagrass beds, under stones, in bryozoan colonies, within small crevices in rock, rubble, and coral and in shelly mud or sand. Distribution: South Carolina, Florida, Texas, the Caribbean Natural History Notes: Small indiviuals of this species can attain densities of 7.5 individuals per liter in algae. Ripe and "nearly ripe" individuals have been reported in May, July, and November. Eggs are grey. Depth: 1-55 m Characteristics: Individuals of this species are typically 4 mm in disk diameter with arms 40-50 mm in length. It can be distinguished from other Amphipholis and Amphiodia species by its toothed arm spines. The disk and arms are light brown, tan, light greenish yellow or gray. Arms have incomplete bands of dusky gray, gray-green, or brown.
