Male Morphological Description: Valves are oval in shape with deep incisur and a rather straight dorsal margin. Male valve length = 1.79-2.01 mm. Male valve height = 1.14-1.28 mm. Color: Transparent, except for brownish light organ and abdomen. Eye: brown to maroon-brown with about 14 ommatidia. Lateral eye length =0.29-0.34 mm. Infold setae: Rostral Row (RR) with about 20-31 double bristles; aboiut 5 bristles along incisur margin, 0-1 bristle anterior to RR; 2 double bristles near inner edge of incisur. Anteroventral Row (AVR) with about 20-31 double bristles; 0-1 double bristle anterior to AVR; 1-4 double bristles porterior to AVR; about 7 widely spaced bristles on ventral margin. 7th limb: with 10-16 bristles. Furca: with 8 or 9 claws. Claws 2 and 4 are fused to lamella.
Male Bioluminescent Display: Male display occurs up to 5 m over gorgonians about 55 min after sunset in a downward direction. Pulse duration is about 7.2 sec. Each train contains about 5-8 pulses. Total train length = 1.5-2 m and lasts 30-40 sec.
Female Morphological Description: Valves are oval in shape with deep incisur. Valve length = 2.33-2.55 mm. Valve height = 1.63-1.70 mm. Color: Mostly transparent, except for brownish light organ and abdomen. Lateral eye length = 0.23-0.29 mm. Infold setae: Rostral Row (RR) with 24-33 double bristles; 3-5 double bristles posterior to RR; 0-2 bristles anterior to RR. Anteroventral Row (AVR) with about 35-43 double bristles; 0-17 double bristles posterior to AVR. 7th limb: with 13-18 bristles. Furca: with 8 or 9 claws. Claws 2 and 4 are fused to lamella.
