Habitat: Underside of rocks in shallow protected water. Occasionally found on sponges.   Depth: 0 - 46 m   Characteristics: The largest individual of this species reported is 51 mm. Shells are ovate and well elevated. The keyhole is narrow and ovate and is constricted toward the anterior end of the animal. A dentriculate margin is formed by a radial sculpture consisting of crowded ribs of irregular size. A secondary peak near the orifice can be observed in profile. The shell exterior is greenish cream and usually has eight darker radial rays of purplish gray. The shell's interior is glossy white, with a white callus excavated behind the truncation. The animal itself is creamy white with spots of brown and orange-brown, darkening to black-brown on the head and tentacles. The mantle is brownish and crossed by narrow bars of white or cream.
