Distribution: Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, North and South Carolina, Florida. Characteristics: The genus Symplegma is easily recognized because the zooids in the colony each have their own oral and atrial siphon. Zooids are embedded in a somewhat translucent tunic which is very thin. This specimen was clear/green/blueish/brown though the name implies a greenish color. The species is characterized by its gonad structure and placement. There is one set of gonads on each side, close do the endostyle, each in the shape of an airplane propeller (testicle with 2 simple lobes and the ovary in the middle).
