Distribution: This species has been reported from the Western Atlantic, Bermuda, Florida, the Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Venezuela and Brazil. Natural History Notes: There are 7 species that belong to the genus Xanthodius. Characteristics: This crab species has a heavy caparace with several spines along the margins and scattered on the carapace. The claws also show several spines. The color pattern consists of a creamy white background with brick red patches on the carapace and on the walking legs and the claws.
